The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has issued a directive to forbid the use of tinted windows, the selling of bread without labels, and the sale of over 50 liters of petrol in the entire state.
It was revealed in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, on Wednesday.
Lawal implemented Executive Order No. 02 and Executive Order No. 04, 2024, to tackle various issues contributing to the security problems in the state.
The statement stated, “Due to the recent series of attacks on some communities in several local government areas of the state, especially Zurmi, Shinkafi, Kaura Namoda and Talata Mafara, and the increase in banditry and kidnapping activities in communities and on major federal highways in the state, Governor Lawal has implemented Executive Order No. 02 2024, prohibiting the sale of unlabelled and packaged bread in sacks and restricting certain undesirable activities in the state.
“All bakeries must label their bread with the complete address and details of their production factory immediately.
“All petrol stations in the state are not allowed to sell more than 50 liters of petrol to vehicles at once. The sale of petroleum products at filling stations is also limited to the hours between 6am and 6pm.
“Transporting/selling bread is only allowed within the capital of each local government.
“For Gusau, the restriction applies specifically to the following areas: Damba—Zaria road; Gada Biyu—Sokoto road; Command Guest House along Kaura Namoda road; Gusau Garage—Dansadau road.”
The governor also banned the use of tinted windows by all vehicle owners in the state.
“Vehicle owners are not allowed to cover their licensed number plates while driving.
“All vehicle owners must have their vehicle documents and ensure they comply with the provisions of the Zamfara State Road Traffic Law No. 2, 2015, and other relevant laws,” the statement added.
