Amazon MGM Studios announced that Chris Pratt’s “Mercy” will be released in theaters on August 15, 2025.
Rebecca Ferguson, who is currently appearing in “Dune: Part 2,” is also part of the film.
Timur Bekmambetov (“Wanted”) will direct the sci-fi thriller, written by Marco van Belle (“Arthur & Merlin”), set in the near future where serious crime has increased. “Mercy” focuses on a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and must prove his innocence.
The sci-fi thriller is expected to begin production this spring.
The project was brought to Amazon MGM Studios by producer Charles Roven (“American Hustle”), who recently won the Academy Award for Best Picture for “Oppenheimer.” Roven, along with Atlas Entertainment SVP Robert Amidon and film producer Majd Nassif, will produce “Mercy” with Bekmambetov’s BEL banner. “Mercy” is the first of a series of new films approved by the studio for theatrical release. Amazon MGM Studios continues to approve films for both theatrical and streaming distribution, including the previously reported streaming release of “Road House.”
“Mercy” will reunite Pratt and Bekmambetov, known for their work on “Wanted,” a 2008 action film based on Mark Millar’s comic book. Bekmambetov’s directorial debut in Hollywood garnered over $342 million worldwide and received two Oscar nominations.
“Mercy” will be in theaters on August 15.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film also features Rebecca Ferguson.
