Calgarians will still go to city council in April to express their opinions on the proposed citywide rezoning to allow for more density.
During a special council meeting on Wednesday, councillors discussed whether to cancel the upcoming public hearing in April and instead have a plebiscite vote during the municipal election in October 2025.
The motion to cancel the public hearing and hold a plebiscite vote was rejected with a 6-8 vote, with councillors Dan Mclean, Sean Chu, Peter Demong, Terry Wong, Sonya Sharp, and Andre Chabot in favor.
The councillors who proposed the motion were the same ones who brought it to council.
More information will be provided later.
