The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Sokoto, has agreed to give half of the regular salary as a Ramadan present to all government employees including primary school teachers, local government staff, and retired workers in the state.
The governor stated that this action is part of his plan to ensure that Muslims in the state are able to comfortably begin fasting for Ramadan this year.
A message issued by his media assistant, Abubakar Bawa, and released to journalists on Sunday stated, “The governor's generous gesture, which is set to start tonight, is aimed at helping state employees observe this year’s Ramadan fast with less difficulty.
“Governor Aliyu, therefore, urged the Muslim community to use this holy month to pray for Allah’s assistance in addressing the numerous challenges impacting Nigeria's development.
“He also urged traders and affluent individuals in the state to demonstrate kindness and compassion to those in need, in order to receive Allah’s mercy and forgiveness during this sacred month.
“The governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their continual support and fervent prayers for his administration, which he emphasized as crucial to the state’s achievements so far.”
