Some unknown individuals might be stuck after a five-floor building being constructed collapsed on Basden Street, Fegge, in the business city of Onitsha, Anambra State.
The building was supposed to be used for business once finished, but it fell early on Sunday while some of the construction workers were on the top floor.
A digger has been brought to the location to start clearing the debris and possibly rescue any trapped victims.
The cause of the collapse is still unknown, but at the time of reporting on Sunday, a nearby source mentioned that one person has been saved as rescue operations continue at the site.
However, there are few details about the incident as the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for confirmation.
He did not answer calls on his phone at the time of reporting.
The Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, Chinyere Nworah, has also not responded to calls.
More details will be provided later…
