In Vernon, B.C., a driver caught speeding excessively had two vehicles confiscated and over 2K in fines in less than four hours.
According to the Vernon RCMP, an officer saw a car being driven very fast through a residential area on 27th Avenue just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 7th.
The media relations officer with the Vernon RCMP, Cst. Chris Terleski, said, “The officer pulled over the car which was found to be going over 100km/hr.
The 23-year-old driver was given fines totaling $1,569 for speeding excessively, not stopping at a stop sign, driving against restrictions, not signaling, crossing a double solid line, and driving an uninsured car.
However, the driver didn’t stop there.
At around 2:25 a.m., police responded to a report of a driver near the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. They found a car speeding away from the area, which turned out to be the same driver, but this time in a different car.
Cst. Terleski said, “This time, the man got $788 in fines…bringing the total to $2,357. The second car was also taken away. It’s absurd to witness this kind of behavior with no excuse for it. The fines given are just the first step, and the man could face more punishments from the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.”
