Popular comedian Eugene Levy, known for his roles in “Schitt’s Creek” and “Best in Show,” was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday. He was joined by friends and family, as well as reuniting with his “American Pie” co-star Jason Biggs.
After 40 years as an actor and writer, Levy was recognized with a star on Hollywood Boulevard by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
Levy expressed discomfort at the attention, thanking his family and actor friends such as Catherine O’Hara from “Schitt’s Creek.”
He mentioned his grandson attending the ceremony and acknowledged his real son Dan Levy, who was unable to come, while also giving a shout out to Jason Biggs as his “second son.”
Levy praised Jason Biggs, who portrayed his on-screen son in the 1999 comedy 'American Pie,' for attending the event.
Levy began his speech by reflecting on his start in show business and the significance of his journey from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
“Receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a far cry from my roots in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Nobody pursued entertainment in Hamilton in the 1960s. But that’s when I became enamored with this industry — in 1961, when I appeared on stage for the first time at Central High. It was a production of ‘The Taming of the Shrew’… I played the tailor,” Levy recounted.
Levy humorously mentioned how he found early success in comedy and dedicated over 50 years to bringing laughter to audiences.
Following this, Levy expressed gratitude to his wife, Deborah Levy, for her unwavering support.
“You can’t receive a star on Hollywood Boulevard without someone having your back,” Levy acknowledged. “Deb’s been my rock for 47 years. Today’s star wouldn’t exist without you.”
