With the varying weather at the start of March break, authorities from the Grand River Conservation Authority are cautioning about water safety.
They predict that areas in the watershed will experience widespread rain and possibly a mix of precipitation or snow as the system diminishes on Sunday.
Most of the rain is expected on Saturday, with the watershed receiving up to 35 mm of precipitation by Sunday.
Officials do not anticipate significant flooding, but they do warn that higher water flows in local waterways increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
They advise the public to be extremely careful, and they remind parents to keep children and pets away from all waterways.
